Once again ..... .this item is selling as-is with a few very tiny chips on the neck bottom ........ anytime from the 1920 era and closer ..... the work is primitive folk art ...... some 11 inches tall ...... the hair actually looks like a phallus ...... i am unable to identify a particular tribe ..... the word .... marie is inscribed and easy to read ....... 3 more lines of script are incised and i have messed with the color to make them as visible as possible ......... i hope someone can recognize the artists name ....... if you are familiar with the style of work ...... you might know his name at a glance ...... for me ...... not so easy ...... lol
this was on line at antique helper back in 2008 where it fetched ..... 0.00 ... on an estimated value of between one and two thousand dollars ....... i got it for much less at a subsequent auction ...... lol
it is handsome in its own right and interesting to boot .... and much cheaper than it was in 2008
i can tell you no more than what i have already said here ..... enjoy the pictures and then decide how much you like it .....
