Handsome Conoco fold-out highway map of Utah, printed more than 77 years ago.
The map opens to 18" x 24" and has great detail on old road alignments, with cartography by H.M. Gousha. The few roads in the southeastern corner of the state, on either side of Glen Canyon, are labeled "unimproved dirt."
On the reverse side there are inset plans of Salt Lake City and Ogden, as well as a highway map of the United States.
The map was distributed in 1935 by the Continental Oil Company to promote its Conoco "Red Triangle" brand, and it is dated by the code number in the lower margin: I-9-8. Small triangles on the map locate Conoco service stations throughout the state.
Condition:
This map is in very good, lightly used condition, bright and clean, with
no
rips or tears. A previous owner has written a number in the upper right corner, and there is a neat rubber-stamp imprint on the back cover from the Newark Sunday Call Touring and Information Bureau.
